Boarding ResidenceIn 2008 the doors opened to the boarding residence at Cornwall Hill College. The boys who are chosen for these prime positions are most privilege and will be seen as the boys of a long line of Cornwall Hill College heroes. This venture will develop boys into independent learners in an environment which is a “home away from home” and provide the boys with an opportunity to contribute to the academic, sporting, cultural and outreach aspects of the school. The boarding residence has 32 rooms which house 2 boys per room from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Each room is equipped with sufficient cupboard space to keep all the boarders belongings, a comfortable bed, a desk and chair to provide the right environment for work and study in a quiet and controlled atmosphere. The facility consists of a fully equipped kitchen and dining room which will not only provide a well balanced meal 3 times per day, but will also provide 2 additional snacks per day to ensure a well rounded diet as prescribed by a qualified dietician. Other facilities at the residence include a sick bay, master on duty’s study and a laundry which look after the washing and ironing needs of the boarders. For relaxation, the boarders can partake in a “top of the art” recreation room which is equipped with a 42 inch television set with controlled access to DSTV and dvd player, pool and snooker tables, computer access to the school intranet and World Wide Web, dart board and a small kitchenette for their own private use. These boys are guided by dedicated resident staff that will look after the pastoral care within the residence and will function as Family Heads within each Grade. These Family Heads will oversee the camaraderie of the boys as well as the personal needs of each and every individual within the residence.
